Akon Tries To Take Case To Trial September 05, 2008, 11:56:50 am by LY®IC
Aliaune Thiam, also known as Akon, will be looking to take his charges to trial, so that the outcome will be decided by a jury. Akon is accused of hurting Abby Rosa after he threw a 15 year-old boy off stage at a show in NY on June 17th of 2007. The boy landed on Rosa and she claims she suffered a concussion as a result of the impact.
Akon pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree harassment.
Akon's lawyer, Andrea Zellan said legal proceedings will begin on Dec. 1 unless both parties can negotiate an out of court settlement.
"We are pleased that Judge Epstein adjourned the case to a date certain for either a trial or a negotiated resolution," Zellan said in a prepared statement. "Akon looks forward to putting this incident behind him, and in the meantime he will continue to meet every requirement set forth by the court."
